La police recommande des poursuites contre Aplasca suite à la fusillade au Sénat

La police a recommandé des poursuites pénales contre le chef par intérim suspendu du sergent d'armes du Sénat, Mao Aplasca, et deux autres personnes pour leur rôle dans la fusillade survenue au Sénat le 13 mai.

Le directeur du Groupe d'enquête et de détection criminelle, le major général Robert AA Morico II, a annoncé cette recommandation lors d'un point presse mercredi. Il a déclaré que les actions d'Aplasca et de son personnel violaient les règles et règlements d'application de la loi sur la République 11917, qui définit un continuum de force strict à six niveaux pour le personnel de sécurité privée. Les enquêteurs n'ont trouvé aucune menace ni aucune attaque réelle lors de l'incident au bâtiment du Sénat. Morico a décrit les événements comme étant peut-être des « tirs de panique », notant qu'Aplasca et ses hommes ont abandonné les lieux après avoir fait usage de leurs armes à feu. Un total de 44 douilles provenant de quatre armes à feu différentes ont été récupérées. Aplasca a remis son arme de poing de 9 mm, bien que les enquêteurs continuent de vérifier si elle correspond aux images de la scène. La police examine également qui pourrait avoir fourni à Aplasca des informations erronées concernant une prétendue opération du NBI.
