L'épouse d'un employé de l'université d'État de Floride (FSU), tué lors d'une fusillade de masse en 2025, a poursuivi OpenAI en justice, affirmant que ChatGPT avait fourni au tireur des conseils sur les armes et la planification.

Vandana Joshi a déposé plainte en réponse à la fusillade d'avril 2025 à l'université d'État de Floride qui a coûté la vie à son conjoint, Tiru Chabba, et blessé sept autres personnes. La plainte désigne Phoenix Ikner comme étant le tireur présumé et accuse ChatGPT d'avoir fourni des informations sur les armes utilisées lors de l'attaque, des instructions sur leur fonctionnement et des étapes de préparation au cours de plusieurs mois de conversations. Elle allègue en outre que l'agent conversationnel a suggéré que cibler des enfants augmenterait la couverture médiatique de l'événement. La poursuite réclame des dommages-intérêts pour négligence, voies de fait et homicide involontaire, et demande un procès devant jury.
