رفعت فاندانا جوشي الدعوى القضائية رداً على حادث إطلاق النار الذي وقع في أبريل 2025 في جامعة ولاية فلوريدا، والذي أودى بحياة زوجها تيرو تشابا وأدى إلى إصابة سبعة آخرين. وتسمي الشكوى فينيكس إيكنر كمسلح مزعوم، وتتهم ChatGPT بتوفير معلومات حول الأسلحة المستخدمة في الهجوم، وتعليمات حول كيفية تشغيلها، وخطوات التحضير على مدى عدة أشهر من المحادثات. كما تزعم الدعوى أن برنامج الدردشة الآلي اقترح أن استهداف الأطفال من شأنه أن يزيد من التغطية الإعلامية للحدث. وتسعى الدعوى للحصول على تعويضات على أساس الإهمال والاعتداء والقتل الخطأ، وتطالب بمحاكمة أمام هيئة محلفين.
