Un district scolaire du Texas règle un procès concernant le décès d'un élève

Le district scolaire indépendant de Spring Branch a réglé un procès intenté par les parents d'un élève de la Stratford High School, décédé après s'être étouffé avec un gant en caoutchouc. L'accord a été conclu le 19 mai. Sebastian Romo, atteint d'autisme sévère, est décédé en février 2023.

Les parents ont allégué qu'une membre du personnel de l'éducation spécialisée était préoccupée par son téléphone portable et n'est pas intervenue alors que leur fils s'étouffait dans le gymnase de l'école. Selon la plainte déposée en février 2025, les images de vidéosurveillance ont montré l'élève en détresse pendant une période prolongée avant qu'il ne perde connaissance. La poursuite affirme qu'aucun membre du personnel n'a tenté de pratiquer la réanimation cardio-pulmonaire ou la manœuvre de Heimlich.
