Le Trésor américain a fait état vendredi d'une dette fédérale atteignant un sommet historique de 39,7 billions de dollars. Les observateurs ont lié ce chiffre à l'intérêt croissant des investisseurs pour le Bitcoin et l'or en tant que protections potentielles contre la dévaluation du dollar.

Le jeu de données « Debt to the Penny » du Trésor a révélé le montant total vendredi. Selon le rapport, la dette augmente d'environ 7 milliards de dollars par jour. Les fondateurs de LondonCryptoClub ont déclaré à CoinDesk que ce rythme soutient la thèse de la dépréciation monétaire. Ils ont affirmé que les actifs à offre limitée comme le Bitcoin et l'or bénéficient des situations où les gouvernements sont confrontés à des niveaux d'endettement élevés. « Nous sommes dans un monde de dominance fiscale qui finira par dicter la politique de la Fed », ont déclaré les fondateurs. « Les taux devront nécessairement être maintenus artificiellement bas et des liquidités devront être fournies. » Le Bitcoin s'échangeait juste au-dessus de 65 000 dollars. Les ETF Bitcoin au comptant ont enregistré 33,79 millions de dollars d'entrées nettes pour la semaine se terminant le 24 juillet, malgré des sorties de capitaux en fin de semaine.
