Addis Ababa transforms river gorges into safe residential areas

Addis Ababa has completed development of river gorges from Qebena Dildiy to Entoto mountain on Miazia 20, 2018 EC. Areas previously posing health and safety risks to residents have been turned into pleasant green residential zones.

In Addis Ababa, river gorges previously causing property and life losses have been greened through development projects. The initiative from Qebena Dildiy to Entoto mountain stands out as a key achievement among recent efforts.

These gorges formerly served as dumps for wastewater and garbage, posing health and safety threats to nearby residents. Now, they feature clean green spaces that create jobs, expand commercial areas, and connect multiple roads.

The development enhances the city's landscape and resident comfort beyond beautification. The city administration has enacted legal frameworks to ensure safety. Residents are urged to utilize benefits responsibly, maintain them, and pass them to future generations.
