Boca Juniors has finalized a deal with Colombia's Atlético Nacional to sign 23-year-old forward Marino Hinestroza as its first reinforcement of the year. The transfer, valued at nearly $5 million, includes payments to Columbus Crew and future benefits for the Colombian club. The player will join coach Claudio Úbeda's team after signing a four-year contract.
Boca Juniors has secured an agreement with Atlético Nacional to bring in 23-year-old Colombian winger Marino Hinestroza, marking the club's first reinforcement for 2026. The deal, which involved public tensions and back-and-forth negotiations, was unlocked with a final offer close to $5 million for 100% of his pass. Of that amount, $2.5 million will go to Columbus Crew, owner of half the player's rights, while Atlético Nacional will receive 20% of any future sale plusvalía.
Hinestroza, valued at over $10 million by the Colombian club in mid-2025, saw his price drop due to irregular performance in the second semester. After winning the Copa Colombia, the player posted an emotional farewell message: "This love story couldn't end any other way than with a title. I'll always carry you in my heart, dear Green". He also earned a call-up to the Colombian national team under Néstor Lorenzo.
Known for his speed and on-field arrogance, Hinestroza describes himself as ambitious: "I'm very ambitious. I've always been a 'dis-humble' kid, arrogant... They have to realize that to win, you have to be like that". He preferably plays on the right wing, is slim and fast, and often drives toward the area to finish precisely against the post. This signing represents a strong bet by Boca ahead of a demanding year, especially in the Copa Libertadores.
