Euphoria and The End to bookend Balinale film festival

Indonesia's Balinale film festival will open its 19th edition on June 1 with Julian Rosefeldt’s Euphoria and close on June 7 with Joshua Oppenheimer’s The End. The event in Sanur presents 94 films from 38 countries.

Balinale runs June 1–7 in Sanur and features 56 premieres. It adds a new competitive category called Best Indonesian Short Tapestry of Indonesia for local short-form storytelling. The festival is Indonesia’s only Academy Award qualifying event and was founded in 2007 by the Bali Film Center.

The 50th Hong Kong International Film Festival will open on April 1 with Anthony Chen's 'We Are All Strangers' and close on April 12 with Philip Yung's 'Cyclone'. The 10-day event features 237 films from 54 countries, opening with Kent Jones' 'Late Fame'.
