Isack Hadjar called on Red Bull to simplify its Formula 1 start procedure after a poor launch at the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix dropped him from sixth to 14th on the opening lap.
Hadjar recovered to finish sixth but described the getaway as a nightmare. He said the current system requires unrealistic precision that drivers cannot deliver consistently.
"I'm not a computer, I'm not a machine, I can't be 0.0001% precise," Hadjar told reporters after the race. He added that rival teams have adopted more manageable procedures while Red Bull's window remains too narrow.
Team principal Laurent Mekies linked the issue to the narrow operating window of Red Bull's new power unit. He described the struggles as part of the learning process in the team's first year as a power unit manufacturer.
Red Bull drivers have faced inconsistent starts throughout the season despite occasional strong performances.
