Lorenzo Musetti has pulled out of the French Open and the Hamburg Open after suffering a rectus femoris tear. The World No. 10 made the decision following his defeat to Casper Ruud at the Rome Masters. He shared the news in an emotional Instagram statement.
Musetti, 24, sustained the injury during his Round of 16 match against Ruud on Tuesday at Foro Italico. Despite visible discomfort and a medical timeout, he continued playing before losing 6-3, 6-1 to the Norwegian. Scans later confirmed significant damage to his quadriceps, requiring several weeks of rest.
