PS5 exclusive Saros sells 300000 copies in first weeks

Sony's latest PlayStation 5 exclusive Saros has sold just over 300000 copies in its first two weeks on sale. The game has generated $22 million in revenue so far. Sales are tracking slightly behind those of developer Housemarque's previous title Returnal despite a much larger console install base.

Alinea Analytics estimates that roughly 30 percent of the sales came from the 48-hour early access period for deluxe edition buyers. The firm notes that Saros launched with around 43000 daily players on 29 April and peaked at almost 142000 on 2 May. Completion rates stand at 20 percent, double the figure recorded for Returnal at the same point in its lifecycle.

Following its delay to April 30, 2026, Housemarque's roguelike shooter Saros saw reviews go live on April 24 after a restrictive embargo lifted, earning acclaim for combat evolutions beyond Returnal while critics decried limits on narrative discussion. The PS5 title follows protagonist Arjun Devraj on the eclipsed planet Carcosa.

Housemarque studio head Ilari Kuittinen said the developer intends to stick with challenging gameplay in future titles, drawing inspiration from FromSoftware.

Sales estimates from Alinea Analytics indicate that 13 Xbox titles have surpassed 100,000 copies each on PlayStation 5. Forza Horizon 5 leads with 5.8 million units sold on the platform. The games have collectively generated $667 million in gross revenue for Microsoft.

Six weeks after launch, Bungie's extraction shooter Marathon is discounted 20 percent to $32 on Xbox Series X/S for the first time, following analyst estimates pegging Xbox sales at just 10 percent of the game's 1.2 million total copies. The move highlights ongoing platform struggles despite steady updates.

Building on its rapid post-launch success, Pearl Abyss' Crimson Desert has now sold 4 million copies worldwide less than two weeks after its March 19 release. The open-world adventure previously reached 2 million in 24 hours and 3 million in five days.

IO Interactive's new James Bond game 007 First Light sold over 1.5 million copies across platforms within its first day of release. The title reached a peak of 68,477 concurrent players on Steam. The studio plans ongoing support similar to its Hitman series.
