The Lighthouse Bar opens at The Park Visakhapatnam

The Lighthouse Bar has opened at The Park Visakhapatnam, offering sea-facing sunset views and signature cocktails. It replaces the former Someplace Else Bar, which defined the city's nightlife for over a decade.

The Lighthouse Bar at The Park Visakhapatnam marks a fresh chapter in the hotel's offerings. It occupies the space previously held by Someplace Else Bar, which influenced the city's after-hours scene for more than ten years. The interiors, crafted over three months, blend restraint with subtle nods to the past, prioritizing detail over extravagance.

Positioned to overlook the sea, the bar features the lighthouse to the left and endless ocean ahead. Its design incorporates nautical elements through textures like wood, brushed metal, and curved lines, illuminated by warm amber lighting that fosters a relaxed atmosphere. A wall-mounted screen loops serene coastal scenes—waves, horizons, and lighthouse beams—enhancing the ambiance without overwhelming it.

General Manager Jaydeep Biswas explains, “The intention was to create a bar that feels rooted in this coastline, without being predictable. We wanted guests to feel a sense of familiarity, but also discover something new in the details, whether it is the lighting, the music or what is in the glass and the food.”

The beverage menu emphasizes balance, incorporating regional ingredients such as kaffir lime for lift, coconut for texture, and jaggery sparingly. Signature drinks include the Floating Lantern, blending whisky with honey and fresh lemon for a mellow finish; Ocean Fog, a gin-citrus mix that changes visually when stirred; and Golden Ash, combining dark rum, pineapple juice, lime, and egg white for subtle tropical flavors. Smoky cocktails add depth with wood and char notes.

The compact food selection complements the drinks, highlighting seafood. Crispy calamari is seasoned with coastal spices, while butter garlic shrimp pairs with grilled millet bread. BBQ cilantro-marinated pomfret is lightly smoked and served with tomato sauce. Vegetarian dishes like creamy wild mushrooms on sourdough toast and charred broccoli with harissa glaze and tahini offer layered complexity.

Biswas adds, “We see this as a destination, not a stopover. It is for travellers, locals and anyone who values design, sound and a well-made drink.” The bar operates from 11am to midnight, transitioning from daytime calm to evening sophistication.
