Brendan "PlayerUnknown" Greene has thanked his team at PlayerUnknown Productions for their professionalism while announcing plans to move forward with a smaller team. The decision follows difficulties securing additional funding for the studio.
Greene posted an extended message on Twitter/X explaining the situation. He described the choice to reduce headcount as difficult and noted that the games industry has faced challenges for some time.
"The games industry has been in a tough spot for a while, and we're not alone in the struggle to find funding," Greene wrote. He added that keeping the studio operational alone was a luxury he could only maintain temporarily.
Prologue: Go Wayback! has been released for free. Greene expressed pride in the team's work and regret that they could not complete the project together. He thanked the community for its support of the worlds created so far.
