Carlos Sainz says Williams lacks car for points

Carlos Sainz admitted after the Austrian Grand Prix that Williams does not have a car capable of scoring points this season. The Spaniard retired from the race with an electrical issue after both Williams drivers were eliminated in Q1.

Sainz described the team's struggles during a post-race interview. "We don't have reliability, we don't have pace, we don't have a car capable of scoring points," he said.

Williams has collected 11 points so far and sits eighth in the constructors' standings. Sainz holds 14th place in the drivers' championship with six points.

The team identified setup problems before qualifying at the Red Bull Ring. Sainz felt competitive during the race stint against cars from Audi, Alpine and Haas before the mechanical failure triggered a virtual safety car.

Upgrades are scheduled to arrive at Silverstone next weekend. Team-mate Alex Albon said the parts should bring Williams closer to Haas but not yet into the midfield.
