James Vowles sets timeline for consistent Williams F1 points

Williams Formula 1 team principal James Vowles has outlined plans for the team to score points regularly after the August summer break. The Grove-based squad endured a difficult start to the 2026 season because of delays to the FW48. Recent upgrades delivered a double-points finish at the Miami Grand Prix.

Vowles said the five-week break between the Japanese and Miami races allowed the team to accelerate development work. He explained that the pipeline of upgrades through and slightly beyond the summer break should position Williams to collect points every weekend from that stage onward. Until then the team expects to close the gap but remains several tenths behind the fifth-fastest car, currently held by Alpine.
