Influencer and lawyer Deolane Bezerra was arrested on May 21 during Operation Vérnix on suspicion of money laundering linked to the PCC and transferred to the Penitenciária Feminina de Tupi Paulista.
Deolane Bezerra was detained on the morning of May 21 in Alphaville, Greater São Paulo, in an operation by the São Paulo Public Ministry and Civil Police. Investigations point to suspicious deposits between 2018 and 2021 and the use of a transport company to launder faction funds.
After one night at the Penitenciária Feminina de Santana, she was transferred on May 22 to Tupi Paulista, in the interior of the state. There, she must remove her mega hair extension, cannot wear earrings and stays in a nine-square-meter individual cell in the special wing for lawyers.
The Union of Penal Police Officers denounced that, at Santana, directors would have personally received Deolane and prepared a room with a bed and hot shower. The Secretariat of Penitentiary Administration stated that it followed judicial orders. The OAB-SP cited the Statute of the Bar, which provides for a State Major room for lawyers held preventively.
Deolane's defense stated that she is innocent and filed habeas corpus requesting house arrest.
