A young wolf that broke out of a zoo in central Daejeon last week has been seen for the first time, officials said Tuesday. Named Neukgu, the wolf was spotted on a small mountain near Daejeon O-World theme park at 10:43 p.m. Monday, according to local firefighting officials. Preparations are under way to capture it.

The wolf was reported spotted on a small mountain near the theme park at 10:43 p.m. Monday. Search authorities visited the area and confirmed the animal was Neukgu. A photo provided by the Daejeon Fire Headquarter shows the wolf on a road.
Local firefighting officials said preparations are under way to capture the wolf. This marks the first sighting five days after the escape.
