Golkar inaugurates party academy to strengthen 2029 election bid

Golkar Party Chairman Bahlil Lahadalia inaugurated the Golkar Party Academy in Jakarta, established per the party's National Conference mandate. The academy will provide strategic inputs for victory in the 2029 elections through research and cadre development.

On Friday, February 13, 2026, at the Golkar Party DPP office in Jakarta, Chairman Bahlil Lahadalia emphasized that the Golkar Party Academy aims to develop cadres who understand the party's ideals in executive and legislative roles. "The academy is a place for forging party cadres. We want Golkar Party cadres, in carrying out their mandates in executive or legislative assignments, to understand the goals regarding Golkar Party's aspirations to the nation and the Indonesian people," Bahlil said after the inauguration and cadre discussion event.

Golkar DPP Secretary General M Sarmuji added that all cadres are responsible for the party's victory and increasing seats in the 2029 elections. Current DPR RI members from Golkar and party ministers will run as legislative candidates, following Bahlil's direction, provided it does not violate rules. The party will also nominate potential cadres after building their character at the academy. "We want all cadres to have a character that, when becoming public officials, is solely to prosper the Indonesian people," Sarmuji stated.

Bahlil expressed his intention to run from the Papua electoral district as it is his hometown, while stressing collective efforts to add Golkar seats in parliament. Academy Executive Director Hajriyanto Thohari appreciated the trust, describing it as a National Conference mandate strengthened in the National Leadership Meeting.
