North Korean Foreign Minister Choe Son-hui held talks with Vietnamese counterpart Le Hoai Trung in Pyongyang and agreed to deepen exchanges and cooperation in various fields.

To Lam's visit marked the first by a Vietnamese top leader to the North in 18 years and was tied to celebrations for the 80th founding anniversary of the North's ruling party.
