The federal government submitted its largest budget proposal yet to Parliament on June 11 2026. The plan allocates 107 dollars per person on average.
Finance Minister Ahmed Shide presented the 2.34 trillion birr fiscal plan to Parliament on Thursday June 11 2026.
This equates to 107 dollars per person, six times lower than Kenya at 632 dollars, and behind Uganda at 488 dollars, Tanzania at 335 dollars and Burundi at 156 dollars.
The budget covers a large population where individual public spending power remains modest.
