Apple telah mulai mengizinkan marketplace pihak ketiga bagi pelanggan iOS di Brasil. Perubahan ini terjadi setelah perusahaan mencapai kesepakatan pada bulan Desember dengan Conselho Administrativo de Defesa Econômica, regulator persaingan usaha Brasil.

Toko aplikasi alternatif harus mendapatkan persetujuan dari Apple. Aplikasi yang didistribusikan melalui toko tersebut akan menjalani proses peninjauan notarisasi. Peninjauan ini bertujuan untuk mendeteksi malware dan ancaman keamanan, namun tidak seluas pemeriksaan standar App Store.

Aplikasi yang dijual di luar App Store akan dikenakan Core Technology Fee sebesar 5 persen. Pendekatan ini mencerminkan langkah-langkah yang telah diambil Apple di Eropa di bawah Digital Markets Act.
