On June 26, LGBTQ+ organizations gathered at Liwasang Bonifacio in Manila to urge President Marcos to prioritize the SOGIE Equality Bill.
The protest formed part of Pride Month 2026 celebrations. Due to heavy rain, the groups abandoned plans to march to the US Embassy and remained at the park.
Stonewall Philippines spokesperson Matty Rebulado said that for the past three years the Marcos administration has taken no concrete action on LGBTQ+ concerns. Bahaghari spokesperson Yell Teresa said discrimination remains widespread in schools and workplaces.
The groups highlighted other proposed measures, including the Right to Care Act and the “Sharmaine” Bill. The SOGIE Equality Bill has remained stuck in Congress for more than two decades.
