LRT-2 Legarda Station offers free parking for train passengers

Passengers of the Light Rail Transit Authority can now park their vehicles for free at the LRT-2 Legarda Station in Manila. The service started recently, following a similar offering at the Santolan Station a month earlier.

Transportation Secretary Banoy Lopez stated that the initiative aims to ease traffic congestion, reduce fuel demand, and shorten travel times. Parking is available daily from 4 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. on a first-come, first-served basis, with no overnight stays permitted.

Passengers must obtain a parking stub from security at the lot, ride the train, and validate the stub at the Passenger Assistance Office of their destination station. The validated stub is required when exiting the parking area.

The Department of Transportation has promoted public transit use amid fuel price increases linked to the Middle East crisis. Since March, the government has subsidized fares by 50 percent on LRT-2 and MRT-3 lines.
