The police action follows passenger complaints about suspected drug consumption by some crew members. A senior officer stated that sector-wise interventions will continue under a result-oriented plan.

Ambulance operators face particular scrutiny after prior reports by the Active Networked Group of Emergency Life Savers flagged concerns. An emergency medical technician said operators in life-or-death roles must face rigorous screening.
Mahesh Kunnel, an ambulance driver from Kayakkodi, noted that most drivers perform responsibly and that exceptions should not overshadow committed operators.
