Akun Twitter resmi Ubuntu memposting sebuah cuitan yang kini telah dihapus, berisi promosi agen AI palsu yang mengarahkan pengguna ke penipuan mata uang kripto. Insiden ini terjadi setelah serangan DDoS selama lima hari terhadap layanan web Canonical yang berakhir awal bulan ini.

Cuitan tersebut, yang muncul beberapa jam sebelum dipublikasikan pada 7 Mei, mengumumkan agen AI bernama Numbat yang dibangun di atas blockchain Solana. Cuitan itu menggunakan branding Ubuntu, termasuk referensi ke nama kode Noble Numbat untuk Ubuntu 24.04, serta menautkan ke situs ai-ubuntu.com. Halaman tersebut meniru desain Canonical dengan sangat mirip dan meminta pengunjung untuk menghubungkan dompet kripto setelah mengeklik tombol bertuliskan Check eligibility atau Explore Ubuntu AI.
