ANI rejects IP Conexión Centro proposal for Autopistas del Café

The National Infrastructure Agency rejected the private initiative IP Conexión Centro submitted by Odinsa Vías. Transport Minister María Fernanda Rojas confirmed the decision after technical and legal analysis.

Transport Minister María Fernanda Rojas announced that the National Infrastructure Agency rejected the IP Conexión Centro proposal. The decision followed an evaluation of the project using legal and technical tools.

The project involved an investment of nearly 7 trillion pesos to intervene in 317 kilometers of corridors between Armenia, Pereira, Manizales and Calarcá-La Paila. It included 77 kilometers of new road and aimed to continue the Autopistas del Café concession.

Odinsa president Jean Pierre Serani stated that the initiative was a new fifth-generation contract and not an extension of the current concession. He said they have not been notified of toll rate changes or regional negotiation tables.

The Colombian Chamber of Infrastructure called on the government to continue technical analysis of the proposal under Law 1508 of 2012. President Gustavo Petro has criticized the concession model and indicated that the continuation of Autopistas del Café will proceed as public works without additional tolls.
