Bol Bol ruled out of PBA semifinals with Achilles injury

TNT Tropang Giga import Bol Bol suffered a suspected Achilles injury during Game 2 of the PBA Commissioner's Cup semifinals and will miss the rest of the tournament.

The 7-foot-3 former NBA player was carried off the court late in the first quarter of TNT's 87-76 loss to Meralco on May 22 after a non-contact incident left him unable to put weight on his left foot.

Team manager Jojo Lastimosa confirmed the severity after the game. “Ruled out. He’s done,” he said. “I think it’s a partial tear. It’s not a total tear, but nonetheless, it’s an Achilles problem. We’ll see after the MRI.”

TNT is now considering former NBA players Darius Days or Marquese Chriss as replacements. Bol had averaged 37.6 points and 14.3 rebounds in 15 games before the injury. Game 3 is scheduled for May 24 at the Araneta Coliseum.
