Comptroller Pérez states no crimes were detected in Minvu land purchases

Comptroller general of the Republic Dorothy Pérez appeared before the Housing commission of the Chamber of Deputies to explain Final Report No. 421 on land purchases by the Ministry of Housing and Urbanism during Carlos Montes' tenure.

Pérez clarified that the Comptroller's Office did not forward the report to the Public Ministry because it found no evidence that constituted a crime. The official specified that the agency only investigates administrative and civil responsibilities and that the outcome of the ongoing administrative summary must be awaited.

The session could not be extended due to lack of unanimity, so Housing and Urbanism Minister Iván Poduje was unable to make his presentation. Poduje criticized the time and resources invested, noting that he was preparing a report on serious irregularities detected from the Comptroller's report.

Poduje stated that the ministerial document will highlight “very serious public policy shortcomings, duplicate teams and totally irrational purchases.”
