Opposition councilor Héctor Javier Osorio Botello condemned Neiva mayor German Casagua's political involvement after risk management leader Nancy Trujillo denounced persecution for not supporting candidate Rodrigo Amaya Culma in legislative elections. Osorio warns of a city crisis worsened by political retaliation and underfunding of promised works. He calls for urgent adjustments to the Municipal Development Plan.
Nancy Trujillo, Neiva's risk management leader, denounced being targeted for persecution after not supporting Rodrigo Amaya Culma, a candidate linked to mayor German Casagua, in past legislative elections.
In an interview with La Nación, opposition councilor Héctor Javier Osorio Botello called Casagua's political involvement "condemnable" amid the city's crisis. "Es condenable que el alcalde que debería estar con toda su energía a liderar una ciudad que está en crisis, la crisis sea su participación en política," Osorio stated. He criticized retaliation against officials and contractors not following electoral instructions.
Osorio warned of underfunding for key projects like the first phase of the Wastewater Treatment Plant, lacking financial closure for studies estimated at 6 billion pesos. Entities such as CAM, Cormagdalena, and the Department refused cofinancing. The city faces structural issues in roads, education, health, and housing, with nearly 200,000 vehicles and no new roads.
The councilor praised some secretariats' efforts but urged Planning, Finance, and Legal departments to redirect credits, adjust the “Acciones por Neiva” Municipal Development Plan, and prevent unfinished major works by the end of the term.
