Óscar Landerretche and Alejandro Micco advanced to the runoff in the dean election at the Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of Chile after a tight first round held on June 10.
In Wednesday's vote Landerretche received 35.66 percent of the weighted votes and Micco 34.62 percent. Dante Contreras finished third with 29.72 percent and was eliminated from the race. Participation reached 94.74 percent with 108 of 114 eligible academics casting ballots. The system uses weighted votes according to professors' working hours. The runoff is scheduled for June 23 or 24 according to different sources and the new dean will take office on July 7 replacing José de Gregorio.
