Luis Robert Jr. has rejoined the New York Mets lineup after spending nearly three months on the injured list. The outfielder was activated from the 60-day list ahead of Monday's series opener against the Milwaukee Brewers.
Robert started in center field and batted seventh in the game at American Family Field. It marked his first Major League appearance since April 26.
The 28-year-old had been sidelined by a lumbar spine disc herniation. He completed a rehab assignment with a .323 batting average, two home runs and one double over eight games.
Interim manager Andy Green said Robert is expected to play about two out of every three games initially. The move gives the Mets their full planned offensive roster for the first time this season.
To make room, the team optioned infielder Eric Wagaman to Triple-A Syracuse.
