Condannati a due anni e dieci mesi i genitori della "casa degli orrori" di Oviedo

Il Tribunale Provinciale delle Asturie ha condannato lunedì Christian Steffen e Melissa Ann Steffen a due anni e dieci mesi di carcere per maltrattamenti psicologici abituali e abbandono di minore. I genitori, di origine tedesca, avevano tenuto i tre figli isolati per quasi quattro anni in un'abitazione a Fitoria.

Il tribunale ha assolto la coppia dall'accusa di sequestro di persona. Ciascun genitore sconterà due anni e quattro mesi per maltrattamenti psicologici e sei mesi per abbandono. Sono inoltre stati interdetti per tre anni e quattro mesi dall'esercizio della responsabilità genitoriale e dovranno risarcire ogni bambino con 30.000 euro.

I fatti risalgono al 28 aprile 2025, quando la polizia locale ha tratto in salvo i gemelli di otto anni e il bambino di dieci anni nella casa rosa a Oviedo. I minori, che vivevano con il pannolino e senza frequentare la scuola, hanno mostrato stupore nel vedere il giardino e toccare l'erba per la prima volta.

La sentenza, notificata oggi, respinge la tesi dei genitori secondo cui l'isolamento serviva a proteggere i figli dal covid. I minori rimangono in una struttura protetta del Principato delle Asturie, dove, secondo le autorità, stanno facendo progressi favorevoli.
