Condenados a dos años y diez meses de prisión los padres de la casa de los horrores de Oviedo

La Audiencia Provincial de Asturias ha condenado este lunes a Christian Steffen y Melissa Ann Steffen a dos años y diez meses de cárcel por violencia psíquica habitual y abandono de familia. Los padres, de origen alemán, mantuvieron a sus tres hijos aislados durante casi cuatro años en una vivienda de Fitoria.

El tribunal absolvió a la pareja del delito de detención ilegal. Cada progenitor cumplirá dos años y cuatro meses por violencia psíquica y seis meses por abandono. Además, quedan inhabilitados durante tres años y cuatro meses para ejercer la patria potestad y deben indemnizar a cada menor con 30.000 euros.

Los hechos se remontan al 28 de abril de 2025, cuando la policía local rescató a los gemelos de ocho años y al niño de diez en la casa rosa de Oviedo. Los menores, que vivían en pañales y sin escolarizar, mostraron asombro al ver el jardín y tocar la hierba por primera vez.

La sentencia, notificada hoy, rechaza el argumento de los padres de que el aislamiento buscaba proteger a los niños del covid. Los menores permanecen en un centro tutelado del Principado de Asturias, donde evolucionan favorablemente según las autoridades.
