Preschool in Fors starts daily pulse sessions against sedentary behavior

Preschool Triangeln in Fors, Avesta municipality, has begun daily pulse sessions to reduce children's sitting and boost movement. Rector Alexandra Hållén states that it works well. The move responds to Folkhälsomyndigheten warnings about declining activity in children.

Preschool Triangeln in Fors outside Avesta now holds pulse sessions daily. The aim is to get all children moving and raise their heart rates, aligning with research recommending one hour of pulse-raising activity daily.

"We have seen that it works and therefore we continue," says rector Alexandra Hållén. Children spend 6–8 hours at the preschool each day, and staff view it as their duty to ensure movement.

Folkhälsomyndigheten reports that movement among children and youth is decreasing, with sedentary behavior rising across all ages. Movement is key for health, well-being, and school performance, the authority states.

A video shows the children's pulse session today. The effort reflects wider initiatives in Dalarna to combat sitting among children.
