Police in Makassar are investigating a suspected terror act after a restaurant received a mysterious package containing a goat's head on Friday night. The owner reported the discovery, initially mistaking it for a dog's head. The investigation continues to uncover the perpetrator's motive.
Officers from Polsek Panakukang are probing a suspected terror act involving a shipment of a goat's head in a cardboard box sent to a restaurant on Jalan Abdullah Daeng Sirua in Makassar, South Sulawesi. The incident occurred on Friday, January 2, 2026, around 8:40 PM WITA, when the restaurant owner discovered a mysterious package wrapped in red plastic containing a brown cardboard box in front of the eatery.
The owner grew suspicious and reported it to the police. "The shop owner has reported it to the office. Initially thought it was a dog's head because it looked similar. But it turned out to be a goat's head," said Kanit Reskrim Polsek Panakukang, Iptu Nasrullah, when confirmed in Makassar on Saturday.
A viral video on social media shows police officers inspecting the package with the owner before discarding the goat's head in the trash. Investigators from Polsek Panakukang are conducting a thorough probe to uncover the motive behind the shipment. "Still under investigation, don't know (the motive) yet. The victim has reported it. This is being deepened for now, we'll inform if there are developments," Nasrullah said.
Unfortunately, the evidence in the form of the goat's head piece has been discarded to the final landfill at Tamangapa Antang after being collected by the daily garbage truck team. "It's already thrown away, that (the goat's head) went to the Antang landfill," he explained. Police hope the investigation can soon identify the perpetrator despite the loss of the main evidence.
