Chance the RapperとJeremihがクリスマスイブに5曲入りの新ホリデーEP『Secret Santa』をリリースした。このプロジェクトは彼らのコラボシリーズ『Merry Christmas Lil’ Mama』の続編となる。SoundCloudで配信され、季節のR&Bサウンドが特徴だ。
シカゴ出身のChance the RapperとJeremihは、2025年12月24日に『Secret Santa』をリリースし、ホリデーミュージックの伝統を継続した。SoundCloudで配信されるこのEPには、「Safe With Me」「I Want What I Want」「Black Santa」「Gloria」「Bless Them All」の5曲が収録されている。これは2016年のミックステープ『Merry Christmas Lil’ Mama』に始まる彼らの過去のコラボを基盤としており、2017年のRe-Wrapped版、2020年の『The Gift that Keeps on Giving』が続く。
オープニングトラック「Safe With Me」は居心地の良い冬の雰囲気を設定する。Jeremihがコーラスで歌う：「Don’t have to be left alone/By yourself on your own/Girl, you should be in some arms/Safe with me, far from home.」Chanceはヴァースで：「It’s cold out there, it’s lonely outside/There’s ice on them roads, it’s slippery, don’t slide/It’s frozen outside, it’s snowing outside.」と寄与。デュオはリリース数時間前にInstagramでEPを予告し、「Safe With Me」のスニペットを投稿してフォロワーに「Should I upload tonight?」と尋ねた。
彼らのパートナーシップを振り返り、Jeremihは2017年のBillboardインタビューでオリジナルプロジェクトが素早く生まれた経緯を語った：「We did that project in a week and a half. I bumped into him at CRC Studios and he asked what I was working on. I told him, ‘Man, I’m just doing something for my fans for Christmas.’ He was like, ‘Fuck it. Let’s hit them.’ I’ve never been in the Christmas spirit ever. My whole family was dancing to Merry Christmas, Lil’ Mama. My grandpops was dancing to it.」
Jeremihは昨年、ソロのホリデーシングル「Secret Santa」をリリースしており、継続的なフェスティバルなアウトプットを続けている。一方、Chanceは12月26日にシカゴで「Day after Christmas AfterParty」を開催し、収益を非営利団体SocialWorksに寄付する予定だ。
