Indonesian Muslim Congress urges LGBTQ prevention rules and ethics institutionalization

The eighth Indonesian Muslim Congress that closed in Jakarta on Sunday night recommended national and local regulations to prevent and handle LGBTQ issues as well as the institutionalization of ethical values in state governance.

Prof Jimly Asshiddiqie who spoke at the congress stressed the need for a code of ethics system in government agencies, civil society organizations, and businesses.

He said cultural approaches through education and preaching must be complemented by structural measures.

"Ethics systems must be enforced in all organizations," Jimly said.

Congress Commission D also recommended forming a National Ethics Court and a special task force for the alleged corruption case involving former Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes Febrie Adriansyah.
