Jakarta Archbishop Ignatius Cardinal Suharyo stressed the importance of morality amid global challenges at a recent community forum event.
At the Bonum Commune Forum x Harmony in Diversity Pre-Event titled Community Action: Grassroots Movements as Architects of Peace, Cardinal Suharyo urged reflection on a world marked by war and competing interests. He warned that the greatest threat to humanity stems from the loss of moral dimension rather than technological advances.
Cardinal Suharyo shared a symbolic tale of four brothers who revived a tiger using knowledge, only for it to turn disastrous. "The world still needs the voice of conscience," he said.
Maarif Institute Executive Director Andar Nubowo added that diversity must be nurtured through cross-community collaboration and digital media to spread peace messages. SETARA Institute researcher Sayidatul Insiyah noted ongoing violations of religious freedom and discrimination in various regions.
