Julie Mehretu, the Ethiopian-American artist, is staging a major solo exhibition at Marian Goodman Gallery in New York. Titled “Our Days, Like a Shadow (a non-abiding hauntology),” the show opens on April 14 and continues until June 6, 2026. It represents her latest presentation in the city.

The exhibition showcases recent works produced from 2024 to 2026, including large-scale paintings and immersive installations. Mehretu's layered visual language explores abstraction, history, movement, the passage of time, and the fleeting nature of experience. The title draws from biblical and philosophical sources.

A performance element, developed in collaboration with choreographer John Jasperse, extends her practice into movement and space beyond the canvas.

Born in Addis Ababa and raised in the United States, Mehretu has gained international acclaim for her expansive abstract works engaging architecture, migration, and global histories. For more details, visit the Marian Goodman Gallery website.
