Police received multiple calls about a shooting at Vårbyparkens football field in Vårby Gård, Huddinge, at 4:50 pm on Monday, March 23, 2026. The victim, a teenager aged 17–18, was found shot on a path beside the field and taken to hospital with very serious injuries, according to police spokesperson Per Fahlström of Stockholm police. Some reports say he was airlifted by ambulance helicopter. A large area was cordoned off during the technical examination, lifted later in the evening. Police have opened an investigation into attempted murder and are searching for suspects. No arrests have been made. “We have a fairly good picture of what happened. But there are many interviews to be held and they are ongoing right now. Therefore, I cannot comment on the sequence of events in detail,” Fahlström told TT. Numerous witnesses have been interviewed, with door-to-door inquiries and CCTV checks underway. Reports to Expressen and SVT suggest the shooter may be a woman, but police do not confirm this. Witnesses described shock and chaos at the scene, especially given the area's many children and nearby preschools. Huddinge municipality has opened the Vårby youth centre for talks, and safety measures are in place. Trains briefly skipped Vårby Gård station.
