São Vicente's Civil Police are investigating the death of a 32-year-old woman who consumed an alcoholic drink at Bar 75 on Saturday (October 25, 2025). On Sunday (26), she experienced vomiting and abdominal pain, symptoms consistent with methanol poisoning, and was rescued by Samu but arrived at the Central Emergency Room without vital signs.
The victim's aunt filed a police report at the station. The Death Verification Service (SVO) is still analyzing the cause of death, which has not been confirmed. The Health Surveillance inspected the bar and closed it due to the lack of an operating permit. Sealed and open bottles were seized for laboratory analysis, with Civil Police support, according to a statement from the São Vicente City Hall.
Bar 75 posted a statement on social media claiming to maintain 'rigorous quality standards' and that 'our drinks come from regularized suppliers constantly inspected by Health Surveillance.' The establishment stated it is available to authorities to clarify the facts.
The methanol crisis in alcoholic drinks marked one month on October 26, without conclusions on the adulterations. Ministry of Health data show 15 confirmed deaths in Brazil: nine in São Paulo, three in Pernambuco, and three in Paraná. In São Paulo, there are 44 confirmed cases and 14 under investigation.
