The Credit One Charleston Open has faced a wave of withdrawals, with nine players pulling out before the tournament. Amanda Anisimova, the highest-ranked absentee and a Wimbledon and US Open runner-up, announced her withdrawal due to an injury sustained at the Miami Open. After consulting medical professionals, she stated, “I’m really sorry to have to miss this year’s Charleston Open... I hope to be back and see you all next year.” Yulia Starodubtseva replaces her in the draw. This marks Anisimova's first event since parting ways with coach Rick Vleeshouwers, who contributed to her strong 2025 season. Elise Mertens also withdrew because of a viral illness, her last match being doubles at the Miami Open on March 28 alongside Zhang Shuai. Yuan Yue takes her spot, as noted in a Tennisform tweet on March 30. Jelena Ostapenko, the 2017 French Open champion and former Charleston runner-up, and Daria Kasatkina, the 2017 Charleston winner sidelined by a right hip injury, are also absent. Other players out include Maya Joint, Beatriz Haddad Maia, Cristina Bucsa, Varvara Gracheva, and Wang Xinyu. Emma Navarro, who owns the tournament through her father Ben Navarro, shared an emotional statement about missing the event for the first time since her 2019 debut. “I’m super disappointed to not be playing the Charleston Open this year... whose support is overwhelming and unconditional,” she said. Replacements entering the draw are Ajla Tomljanovic, Lulu Sun, Katie Volynets, Anastasia Zakharova, Renata Zarazua, Dalma Galfi, and a lucky loser.
