M. Fadli Toisuta, deputy chairman of Commission I at Ambon City Council, described unlicensed buildings as a serious concern. "This is our responsibility in the oversight function. We do not want new problems to arise from such issues," he said in Ambon on Wednesday.
He noted numerous public reports of land encroachment and unauthorized construction. This requires subdistrict heads to act proactively by conducting field inspections to ensure compliance.
"Subdistrict heads should not wait for reports but go directly to the field. Do not let incidents happen before reports reach the council," Fadli emphasized. Such violations disrupt environmental safety and urban order, potentially leading to administrative sanctions or demolition.
