Beastie Boys' Mike D releases debut solo single

Mike D has released “Switch Up,” marking his first solo single and the first new music from any individual Beastie Boys member since 2011.

The track emerged from home studio experiments involving Mike D and his sons, Davis and Skyler Diamond. The brothers, who perform as the indie-dance duo Very Nice Person, share production credits with Carter Lang on the song. It follows a surprise April 11 stage appearance where the Diamond brothers joined their father for Beastie Boys tracks including “Looking Down the Barrel of a Gun” and “So What’cha Want.”
