At the 16th African Risk Capacity assembly in Addis Ababa, Ethiopian officials described the initiative as a symbol of African unity beyond national finance mechanisms. Commissioner Dr. Sheferaw Teklemariam and Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Tiruneh highlighted Ethiopia's work on aviation risks and disaster resilience amid climate change. The event focused on unity, togetherness, and institutional strengthening.

The 16th African Risk Capacity assembly, held in Addis Ababa, is proceeding under the theme of unity, togetherness, and legality.

Ethiopian Disaster Risk Management Commissioner Dr. Sheferaw Teklemariam stated that the African Risk Capacity is a symbol of African unity, not merely a national finance mechanism. He noted that risks to aviation assets in Ethiopia are increasing in frequency, scope, and complexity due to climate change. As global financial integration declines, African institutions must assume greater responsibility, he said.

Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Tiruneh said Ethiopia is working on African disaster prevention by linking economic challenges to risk management capacity building. Investments in aviation, industry, mining, tourism, and technology have integrated resilience into national development, he added. National programs in green agriculture, food security, corridor development, and hydropower expansion aim at self-reliance and strengthening.

Temesgen Tiruneh urged Africa to adopt the Ethiopian model, aligning with Agenda 2063 to empower institutions for self-managed, self-reliant, and united risk capacities.
