A 25-year-old woman in Magoffin County, Kentucky, faces multiple charges including attempted murder after an argument over taking a child to McDonald's escalated into violence on Sunday morning.
Macey Jo May was arrested after officers responded to reports of an assault and shooting at a home on Combs Branch Road. Authorities said the incident began when May became angry at another woman for taking a 5-year-old child to get breakfast at McDonald's.
May allegedly struck one woman on the side of the head and hit a second woman in the face when she tried to intervene. Neighbors who witnessed the fight attempted to stop it, but May reportedly threatened to "eat them one by one."
She then fired two shots from a gun taken from her purse before the weapon jammed, with one round nearly striking a neighbor, according to investigators. May told police she could not remember the events and is being held at the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center.
She has been charged with fourth-degree assault causing minor injury, first-degree wanton endangerment, third-degree terroristic threatening, and attempted murder.
