Former star Melissa Gilbert jumped into the debate over the Netflix Little House reboot, calling both the new series and the original perfect examples of dramatic license.
Gilbert, who played Laura Ingalls Wilder from 1974 to 1983, posted on Substack that she is unsure if she can be fully objective. She admitted neither the classic NBC show nor the Netflix version matches the books or the times exactly.
She wrote that even Laura herself took dramatic license in the novels, like aging up the Ingalls girls in Little House on the Prairie. Gilbert urged fans to enjoy the ride or simply skip it if it does not appeal.
Co-star Dean Butler, who played Almanzo Wilder, added in an Instagram video that he loves the family singing added to the reboot, something the original never featured.
