Ministry prepares educational content to prevent LGBTQ behavior spread

The Ministry of Religious Affairs is preparing educational content to prevent the spread of LGBTQ behavior in line with Presidential Regulation Number 111 of 2025. The move is taken as the issue is viewed as a non-military threat to national defense.

Deputy Minister Romo Muhammad Syafi’i stated in Jakarta on Monday that the ministry must take a clear position on LGBTQ issues because they involve religious values, human dignity, education, and national resilience.

He said he had discussed the matter with religious leaders from various faiths. All agreed that LGBTQ behavior is not permitted in their teachings.

According to Syafi’i, policies must stay within the corridor of Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution. The first principle of Pancasila on belief in one God serves as the main foundation.
