Ohio man convicted in starvation death of girlfriend's son

A Lucas County jury has convicted 30-year-old Joshua Mulvey of involuntary manslaughter and child endangerment in the 2023 starvation death of his girlfriend's 7-year-old son, Kristopher Snyder. The child, who had cerebral palsy and epilepsy, weighed just 19 pounds when found dead.

Mulvey was found guilty on Friday after a trial in Lucas County Common Pleas Court. Prosecutors said he lived with the boy and his mother, Samantha Hardiman, for about two years but failed to meet the child's basic nutritional needs despite ample food in the home. The victim had not seen a doctor in person for roughly four years. This follows Hardiman's March 2026 guilty plea to murder in the same case, for which she received a sentence of 15 years to life.
