Ohio mom charged with endangering malnourished daughter

A 21-year-old Cincinnati woman is in jail after authorities say she left her daughter home alone during overnight work shifts, leading to severe malnutrition and injury.

Naomi Holloway faces charges of endangering children. Officials say she admitted leaving her daughter, then 2 years old, unsupervised from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. while she worked.

The child was taken to Cincinnati Children's Hospital on Jan. 20 weighing 17 pounds, below the normal range of 22 to 32 pounds for a 2-year-old. A probable cause affidavit states the weight loss resulted from prolonged deprivation of food and water, and the girl had visible injuries including skin peeling on her buttock.

Holloway is being held at the Hamilton County Justice Center on $50,000 bond. She has a court appearance scheduled for Wednesday on separate charges and a hearing on the endangerment case set for July 6.
